Directions
Take 1 cup of the lukewarm mashed potatoes and 1 cup of sugar, to which add a dissolved yeast cake and a cup of flour;mix well and stand in a warm place for about five hours to rise. Mix together a cup of equal parts lard and butter, 1 cup of sugar, three eggs and a half tablespoon of salt. Add this to the first mixture and stir thoroughly, cover and leave overnight in a warm place to rise. In the morning roll out, cut in cakes and place in pie pans. Make a mixture of butter and brown sugar and spread over each cake. Make the cakes in a moderate oven until done.bake at 350°
